About Us

The Spirit of the Lord pressed heavy upon the heart of Rev. Mack Benton in the fall of 1973 to start a Missionary. The Spirit persisted so much, Rev. Benton had to talk to someone about this revelation.

He first approached Ms. Maude Kaigler and told her what had happened. She encouraged him to follow the Spirit and lets start a mission. Then, Rev. Benton talked to Mr. George Collier about this. Mr. Collier was in full accord with what Rev. Benton was instructed to do through the spirit and promised to support him anyway he could.

On the night of January 4, 1973, at 8:00 PM, Five (5) people gathered at Rev. Benton's home, 5381 Belvedere, and they had a service in the form of a Bible Class. From this gathering, the Mission was started. Thank God for His Power and people that Love Him and His Word.

The Lord began to Bless this small gathering of believers... So much, they began to grow to the point it was necessary to have larger quarters for their meetings. Those assembled suggested to rent a building. All being in favor of the suggestion, Rev. E. Murray and Mr. Robert Gentry was nominated to find a suitable building for the meetings, in a short time, the two brothers found a building at 1400 Crane St. The Pastor and the members gathered at this location and found it suitable for the services.

On the First Sunday, Pastor Benton read the Covenant for the Church and suggested, this building be recorded with the State of Michigan as a Church under the name of New Christian Missionary Baptist Church. All agreed and asked Pastor Benton to handle all the Legal proceedings. On January 21, 1976 the church was established. The Lord really began to bless us and our congregation grew to 10 adults and 6 children.

On October 24, 1979, under the leadership of pastor Benton, the church moved to our present location 11025 Kercheval. The Lord began to bless us even more and the Church grew to the point it was able to meet its needs.

Giving thanks to God the Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we continue  to grow. Because of his abundance of blessings, the Church is going to venture into another building process for a New Permanent Home adjacent to our present building. We have asked the Lord to Bless our plans and whatever we achieve towards completion of this work, we will give God all the credit, because what we are trying to do is unto him.
